Blue Ash is a United States band, formed in Ohio in the summer of 1969 by bassist Frank Secich & vocalist Jim Kendzor. Guitarist Bill Yendrek and drummer David Evans were recruited later that summer. The band debuted at "The Freak Out", a club in Youngstown, OH on October 3, 1969. They gained a loyal following playing an endless stream of one-nighters over that year. In October 1970, Bill Yendrek, was replaced by guitarist/songwriter Bill "Cupid" Bartolin. Blue Ash continued playing 250-300 dates a year throughout Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and West Virginia, while the songwriting team Frank Secich and Bill Bartolin accumulated an enormous amount of original material. In June 1972, Blue Ash signed a production contract with Peppermint Productions of Youngstown and started recording and sending out demos. In late 1972, they were signed to Mercury Records. Their first album "No More, No Less" was released in May, 1973 and received rave reviews in the rock press. It is considered a power pop classic, and is regarded as highly collectible among fans of that genre (it was finally released on CD on the Collectors' Choice label in September 2008). Blue Ash toured and opened for such acts as the Stooges, Bob Seger, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent and more but for lack of sales they were dropped by Mercury Records in May, 1974. They were signed to a singles deal with Playboy Records in 1977. The first single, "Look At You Now" became a regional hit in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Mississippi, as well as in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Playboy then offered an album deal. The LP "Front Page News" was recorded in Los Angeles in August of 1977 and released in October of that year. It was selling well, but in early 1978 Playboy International pulled the plug on Playboy Records and Blue Ash was once again without a label. Big Star is an American rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1971 by Alex Chilton, Chris Bell, Jody Stephens and Andy Hummel. The group broke up in 1974, but reorganized with a new line-up nearly 20 years later. In its first era, the band's musical style drew on the work of British Invasion groups including The Beatles and The Kinks, as well as The Byrds, The Beach Boys, and other U.S. acts. To the resulting power pop, Big Star added dark, nihilistic themes, and produced a style that foreshadowed the alternative rock of the 1980s and 1990s. Before it broke up, Big Star created a "seminal body of work that never stopped inspiring succeeding generations" in the words of Rolling Stone. Third/Sister Lovers, also issued as Third, is a rock album by Big Star recorded in 1974 and released in 1978. The album was produced by Jim Dickinson. 01 - Kizza Me 02 - Thank You Friends 03 - Big Black Car 04 - Jesus Christ 05 - Femme Fatale 06 - O, Dana 07 - Holocaust 08 - Kangaroo 09 - Stroke It Noel 10 - For You 11 - You Can't Have Me 12 - Night Time 13 - Blue Moon 14 - Take Care 15 - Nature Boy 16 - Till The End Of The Day 17 - Dream Lover 18 - Downs 19 - Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On LINK
Faster Pussycat is an American hard rock band from Los Angeles, California formed in 1986. The group was most successful during the late 1980s with their self-titled debut album and their 1989 gold album Wake Me When It's Over. Although is often labeled as glam metal, their early sound drew heavy influence from the New York Dolls and early Aerosmith. Wake Me When It's Over is Faster Pussycat's second album, moving from the glam rock sound of their first album to a blues-influenced sound. After the recording of this album, drummer Mark Michals was fired because of heroin possession, and drummer Frankie Banali was hired for a concert tour. Banali was replaced after the tour by Brett Bradshaw. Music videos were produced for "Poison Ivy" and "House of Pain". "House of Pain" reached #28 in the Billboard Hot 100 and the video was in rotation on MTV. The Bottle Rockets are an American rock band formed in 1992, currently based in St. Louis, Missouri. The founding members are Brian Henneman (guitar, vocals), Mark Ortmann (drums), Tom Parr (1992–2002, guitar, vocals) and Tom Ray (1992–1997, bass guitar). Current members are Henneman, Ortmann, John Horton (joined 2003, guitar) and Keith Voegele (joined 2005, bass, vocals). Most members of the group have contributed compositions to their catalog of original songs, as have Robert Parr (Tom's brother) and schoolteacher Scott Taylor (who writes lyrics for some of Henneman's tunes). As noted in the New York Times by William Hogeland, the Bottle Rockets' songwriting has been likened to Woody Guthrie's folk style in spirit, smarts, and satire. The band's lyrics encapsulate the common experiences of the everyman, and are set to rousing and searing rock 'n' roll. Considered to be the leaders of the '90s alt-country/roots rock revival along with peers Uncle Tupelo, the Bottle Rockets are contemporary storytellers from Middle America. Their songs with strong social commentary reflect their influences of Woody Guthrie, Neil Young and The Replacements. Brand New Year is the fifth album of the band. "There's no question that Brand New Year is a proudly Luddite record, celebrating the virtues of loud guitars and living without computers (see "Helpless," as in "how come I don't feel helpless"), which naturally makes it feel like an album out of time, but that is its redeeming virtue -- it might not have the hooks of a classic rock album, but it's a good, solid slice of organic hard rock." Blur are an English alternative rock band. Formed in London in 1989 as Seymour, the group consists of singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree. Blur's debut album Leisure (1991) incorporated the sounds of Madchester and shoegazing. Following a stylistic change—influenced by English guitar pop groups such as The Kinks, The Beatles and XTC—Blur released the Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993), Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) albums. As a result, the band helped to popularise the Britpop genre and achieved mass popularity in the UK, aided by a famous chart battle with rival band Oasis dubbed "The Battle of Britpop". In recording their follow-up, Blur (1997), the band underwent another reinvention, showing influence from the lo-fi style of American indie rock groups. "Song 2", one of the album's singles, brought Blur mainstream success in the US. 01 - She's So High 02 - Bang 03 - Slow Down 04 - Repetition 05 - Bad Day 06 - Sing 07 - There's No Other Way 08 - Fool 09 - Come Together 10 - High Cool 11 - Birthday 12 - Wear Me Down LINK
Deerhoof is an Art rock musical group currently consisting of Satomi Matsuzaki, John Dieterich, Ed Rodriguez and Greg Saunier. Reveille is the fourth album by Deerhoof, released in 2002. The line-up of the band at the time was Satomi Matsuzaki, John Dieterich and Greg Saunier, with Chris Cooper contributing extra guitar work on one of the tracks. Dieterich's playing had added a new element of guitar virtuosity to their sound, allowing for a broad stylistic range that included echoes of rock and roll of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, garage rock, post-rock, modern classical composition, pop, noise, and improvisation. The production was at times more powerful and polished than on previous releases. Matsuzaki's vocals were often very minimal, sometimes creating the impression of another instrument. One track, "Cooper", featured the return of guest guitarist Chris Cooper. The album artwork was by Matsuzaki, and its grandiose tone and religious connotations echoed the musical bombast (often compared to The Who), as well as the lyrical theme of resurrection. For the first time, Deerhoof began receiving some critical praise, notably in a best-of-2002 list in The New York Times. Several years after its release Reveille was named in Pitchfork's Top 100 Albums of 2000-2004 01 - Sound The Alarm 02 - This Magnificent Bird Will Rise 03 - The Eyebright Bugler 04 - Punch Buggy Valves 05 - No One Fed Me So I Stayed 06 - Our Angel's Ululu 07 - The Last Trumpeter Swan 08 - Top Tim Rubies 10 - Holy Night Fever 11 - All Rise 12 - Frenzied Handsome, Hello! 13 - Days & Nights In The Forest 14 - Hark The Umpire 15 - Cooper 16 - Hellelujah Chorus LINK

This Left Feels Right is a Bon Jovi studio album with new versions of Bon Jovi songs from previous albums, released in 2003. It was like a "trip down memory lane" as Jon Bon Jovi likes to put it. It has acoustic versions of many of Bon Jovi's biggest hits. Many of the 80's hard hitting chart-rockers are presented in a different light as soulful ballads. Hüsker Dü was an American rock band formed in Saint Paul, Minnesota in 1979. The band's continual members were guitarist Bob Mould, bassist Greg Norton, and drummer Grant Hart. Hüsker Dü never achieved mainstream success, and sold modestly. Following a series of unsuccessful albums, including Zen Arcade (1984) and New Day Rising (1985), the band signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1986, becoming one of the first American underground rock bands to sign with a major record label. Hüsker Dü first gained notice as a hardcore punk band with thrashing tempos and screamed vocals. The band developed a more melodic musical style as they drifted away from their early sound, helping to develop the early alternative rock sound in the process. Mould and Hart split the songwriting and singing duties; Mould's lyrics were known for being more soul-searching and intense than the often whimsical and cryptic ones of Hart. Hüsker Dü broke up in 1987 without having achieved a popular breakthrough. Flip Your Wig is a 1985 album Hüsker Dü, and its last release on SST Records. With each album, Hüsker Dü's sound grew more sophisticated. By the time of this release, they had signed a major-label record deal. However, the band felt they owed one more album to SST and delivered Flip Your Wig. Perhaps owing to the expedient circumstances of its recording, Flip Your Wig is overall lighter in tone than Hüsker Dü's earlier albums, with filler such as "The Baby Song." In this respect, it is viewed as less essential than New Day Rising and Zen Arcade, but critical opinion of the album generally registers high. 01 Flip Your Wig 02 Every Everything 03 Makes No Sense At All 04 Hate Paper Doll 05 Green Eyes 06 Divide And Conquer 07 Games 08 Find Me 09 The Baby Song 10 Flexable Flyer 11 Private Plane 12 Keep Hanging On 13 The Wit And The Wisdom 14 Don't Know Yet LINK
