The Plastic Ono Band is a conceptual supergroup formed by John Lennon and Yoko Ono in 1969 before the dissolution of the Beatles. Among the various other members of the band were Eric Clapton, two more Beatles (George Harrison and Ringo Starr), artist Klaus Voormann, future Yes drummer Alan White, members of Delaney and Bonnie, the Who's drummer Keith Moon, New York band Elephant's Memory, Billy Preston, Nicky Hopkins, Phil Spector, drummer Jim Keltner, and, in a 2009 revival, Sean Lennon. The only album solely credited to the Plastic Ono Band, Live Peace in Toronto 1969, was recorded during the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival on September 13 that year and featured Eric Clapton on lead guitar, Klaus Voorman on bass (an old friend of Lennon's from Germany, who was famous for the cover art of the Beatles' Revolver album), and Alan White (later of Yes) on drums. Fronting the group, naturally, were Lennon and Ono. Lennon's performance has been cited as giving him the confidence to tell the other Beatles a few days later that he was leaving the band. 01 - Blue Suede Shoes 02 - Money (That's What I Want) 03 - Dizzy Miss Lizzy 04 - Yer Blues 05 - Cold Turkey 06 - Give Peace A Chance 07 - Don't Worry Kyoko (Mummy's Only Looking For Her Hand In The Snow) 08 - John, John (Let's Hope For Peace) LINK
Wings over America is the sixth album issued by Wings and their only live album. In its initial 1976 release, it was a triple album due to its length. Originally, Wings over America was to be a two-record set, but this was rethought due to the success of a bootleg called Wings from the Wings, released on a bicentennial red, white, and blue triple record set, recorded on June 23, 1976 at The Forum (Inglewood, California). This caused McCartney to redo the official release as a three-record set covering the entire concert, including Denny Laine's "Go Now," a song from his time as a member of The Moody Blues. This song was only performed June 21, 22, and 23, 1976, at the Forum. Compiled from all recorded shows of the band's Wings Over America Tour that spring, Wings over America was another success for Paul McCartney and Wings, reaching #1 in the US in early 1977 (the last in a 5-album stretch of consecutive #1 albums for Wings) and #8 in the UK, and selling several million copies. Wings Over America was reissued as a double-CD in 1984 on Columbia Records, although few copies were made since few people had CD players in 1984, and soon Paul McCartney would leave Columbia/CBS and go back to Capitol Records. The Columbia double-CD went out of print soon after it hit stores; the Capitol double-CD is much more common.

The Beatles performed for fifty-two BBC Radio programmes, beginning with an appearance on the series Teenager's Turn—Here We Go, recorded on 7 March 1962, and ending with the special The Beatles Invite You to Take a Ticket to Ride, recorded on 26 May 1965; in total, 275 performances of 88 different songs were broadcast. Early bootlegs of some of the performances were based on low-quality home recordings of the broadcasts from the radio. It was not the BBC's practice to archive either the session tapes or the shows' master tapes, but many good quality distribution copies were found in various BBC departments during research for BBC radio specials produced in the 1980s. Increasingly comprehensive collections of the BBC performances were bootlegged in the 1980s and early 1990s. The most notable of these was The Complete BBC Sessions, a nine-CD box set released in 1993 by Great Dane in Italy, where copyright protection for the broadcasts had expired. On the 17th of October 2005 the first in a legendary series of podcasts compiled by DinsdaleP was broadcast. Every week or so , a new edition followed. They continued for 114 episodes until December the 11th 2007, an astonishing amount of material in such a short space of time and very hard work for the author who shared these with us. At the time they were unique in both their content and production...in fact they still are... and although many have tried to emulate them none have succeeded. Dinsdale has very kindly made the original lossless tapes available to Nowhere Man Records, who are privileged to present them in their entirety, along with one or two surprises. This seems to be the last Nowhere Man Records release, I'll post podcasts 49 to 114 in the next weeks. John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band is the debut solo album by English rock musician John Lennon. It was released in 1970 after Lennon issued three experimental albums with Yoko Ono and Live Peace In Toronto 1969, a live performance in Toronto credited to The Plastic Ono Band. The album was recorded simultaneously with Yoko Ono's debut avant garde solo album Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band at Ascot Sound Studios and Abbey Road Studios using the same musicians and production team, and featured nearly identical cover artwork. John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band is generally considered one of Lennon's finest solo albums and a landmark recording. Rolling Stone named it the twenty-second greatest album of all time.
