John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne is an English singer-songwriter and occasional actor, whose career has spanned over 40 years. As of December 2010, Osbourne has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. Osbourne rose to prominence as lead vocalist of the pioneering English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, a band whose radically different, intentionally dark, doom sound spawned the heavy metal genre. In his subsequent solo career Osbourne achieved a multi-platinum status in addition to the one he had earned with Black Sabbath. These things are what led Osbourne to become known as the "Godfather of Heavy Metal". It was during his Sabbath days that, due to their dark style of music, Osbourne became known as the "Prince of Darkness". Scream is the tenth studio album by Ozzy. Released in the United Kingdom on 14 June 2010, the album was recorded at Osbourne's home studio "The Bunker" in Los Angeles, California and produced by himself and Kevin Churko, who had previously worked on Black Rain. The album was commercially successful, reaching number 12 on the UK Albums Chart and number four on the US Billboard 200 chart. 01 - Let It Die.mp3 02 - Let Me Hear You Scream.mp3 03 - Soul Sucker.mp3 04 - Life Won't Wait.mp3 05 - Diggin' Me Down.mp3 06 - Crucify.mp3 07 - Fearless.mp3 08 - Time.mp3 09 - I Want It More.mp3 10 - Latimer's Mercy.mp3 11 - I Love You All.mp3 LINK
This band, along with Sir Lord Baltimore, Yesterday's Children et al were among the East Coast's premier heavy blasters of the post-psychedelic era. Check out I Just Don't Know and Evolmia from their amazing first album on Atlantic. The second album has longer, less structured cuts with seemingly endless guitar soloing... nevertheless, both are recommended. The first album was produced by Warren Schatz and Stephen Schlaks. Peter Alongi (guitar, vocals), Michael Marine (bass, vocals), Jose Miguel De Jesus (guitar, vocals), Victor Digilie (drums) and Johnny Pacheco (perc).

Stonehouse Creek 1971 is a GREAT Heavy Rock record. Oftentimes wrongfully lumped into the hard progressive sub category, this is just plain old killer articulate early 70s Heavy Rock. The music and vocal stylings bear a slight resemblance to their fellow UK musicians in Free or very early Bad Company. The thing that definitely sets Stonehouse apart from other commonplace hard rock groups is their musicianship. Instead of arranging their material around the guitar, all the musicians use the acoustic piano as a rhythmic springboard allowing them all a more melodious approach to their individual contributions. The Piano is in no way dominant throughout the album, nor are the arrangements too angular. Unfortunately this was the groups only offering and details on the members & their activities are as rare as the RCA record itself. Peter Spearing (guitar, vocals), James Smith (vocals), Ian Snow (drums) and Terry Parker (bass). Excellent early 70's British Metal. Comparable to Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.

Sir Lord Baltimore are a pioneering American heavy metal band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 1968 by lead vocalist/drummer John Garner, guitarist Louis Dambra, and bass player Gary Justin. They are notable for the fact that a 1971 review of their debut record, Kingdom Come, contained the first documented use of the term "heavy metal" to refer to a style of music. Additionally, Sir Lord Baltimore featured a drumming lead singer, traditionally a rarity in rock and metal music. The group have been called "the godfathers of stoner rock." Sir Lord Baltimore is the second studio album by the band, released on Mercury Records in 1971. It was re-issued on PolyGram in 1994, and on Red Fox in 2003. This album marked a change in direction, with the frenetic pace of the earlier Kingdom Come's giving way to a slower-tempo. Sir Lord Baltimore expanded to a four-piece for this album, with Louis Dambra's brother, Joey Dambra, joining as a second guitarist. Sir Lord Baltimore contains the band's only officially released live recording, "Where Are We Going." 01 - Chicago Lives 02 - Loe And Behold 03 - Woman Tamer 04 - Caesar Lxxi 05 - Man From Manhattan 06 - Where Are We Going LINK
Angel is a glam rock and heavy metal band from Washington, D.C., formed in the mid-70s by Punky Meadows and Mickie Jones. It was signed to Casablanca Records, and had the image of dressing in white. Angel was discovered by KISS bass player Gene Simmons performing at a nightclub and was signed to KISS' record label Casablanca. Angel's image of dressing in all white was a deliberate contrast to Kiss, which wore black. Angel sported an androgynous image and elaborate stage sets. It was slammed by rock critics, and Frank Zappa ridiculed the all-male band’s female appearance in the song "Punky’s Whips.” Angel never achieved mass commercial success but acquired a following as a cult band. Sinful is the fifth album by the rock band Angel. It was the band's most pop-oriented album. The album was originally titled Bad Publicity, and a few copies of the album with that title and a different album cover were sold before being replaced. The album went to #159 on the Pop Album Charts in 1979. 01 - Don't Take Your Love 02 - L.A. Alice in Chains is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1987 by guitarist Jerry Cantrell and original lead vocalist Layne Staley. Although widely associated with grunge music, the band's sound incorporates heavy metal and acoustic elements. Since its formation, Alice in Chains has released four studio albums, three EPs, two live albums, four compilations, and two DVDs. The band is known for its distinct vocal style which often included the harmonized vocals of Staley and Cantrell. Alice in Chains rose to international fame as part of the grunge movement of the early 1990s, along with other Seattle bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. The band was one of the most successful music acts of the 1990s, selling over 35 million albums worldwide, and over 15 million in the US alone. Alice in Chains is the eponymous third studio album by the band. Released on November 7, 1995, it was the follow-up to the highly successful Dirt. It marks the band's last studio album to feature vocalist Layne Staley, who would die of a drug overdose in 2002, and the last until Black Gives Way to Blue was released in 2009 featuring new vocalist William DuVall.

Frehley's Comet was an American rock band formed and led by ex-Kiss lead guitarist Ace Frehley. The group released two studio albums and one live EP before Ace Frehley left the band. Second Sighting is the second out of three LPs put out by Ace in the 80's, but it was the last under the band name Frehley's Comet. Second Sighting was recorded with new drummer Jamie Oldaker, who had previously worked with Bob Seger and Eric Clapton. He replaced Anton Fig, who would return for 1989's Trouble Walkin'. This makes Second Sighting the only Ace Frehley solo album or project (excluding compilations) to not feature Fig. "Dancin' With Danger" is a cover version of a song recorded by the Canadian band Streetheart. Although the songwriting credits list Frehley and Dana Strum, the music and lyrics are very similar to the original version. AC/DC are an Australian rock band, formed in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Although the band are commonly classified as hard rock and are considered a pioneer of heavy metal, they have always classified their music as rock and roll. To date they are one of the highest grossing bands of all time. AC/DC underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, High Voltage, in 1975. Membership remained stable until bassist Mark Evans was replaced by Cliff Williams in 1978 for the album Powerage. Within months of recording the album Highway to Hell, lead singer and co-songwriter Bon Scott died on 19 February 1980, after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The group briefly considered disbanding, but Scott's parents urged them to continue and hire a new vocalist. Ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson was auditioned and selected to replace Scott. Later that year, the band released their highest selling album, Back in Black. Family Jewels is a two disc compilation DVD by AC/DC, featuring the group's music videos, live clips and promotional videos from 1975 to 1991. It was released by Sony Entertainment on 28 March 2005. The first disc contains videos from the Bon Scott era (1975-1980), such as the band's first TV appearance and a performance on television ten days before Scott died. The second disc contains material from the Brian Johnson era (1980-1991) such as the videos for Back in Black. This is only sound extracted from the videos. Black Sabbath are an English rock band, formed in Birmingham in 1968 by Ozzy Osbourne (lead vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass guitar), and Bill Ward (drums). The band has since experienced multiple line-up changes, with Tony Iommi the only constant presence in the band through the years. A total of twenty-two musicians have at one time been members of Black Sabbath. Originally formed as a heavy blues-rock band named Earth, the band began incorporating occult- and horror-inspired lyrics with tuned-down guitars, changing their name to Black Sabbath and achieving multiple platinum records in the 1970s. Despite an association with occult and horror themes, Black Sabbath also composed songs dealing with social and political issues such as drugs and war. Black Mass was recorded live at Radio Bremen Studios, May 25th 1970, and aired September 26th 1970 at German TV's Beat Club.

Dark Tranquillity is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg. They are the longest-standing band from the original Gothenburg metal scene, and are one of the most integral pioneers of the melodic death metal genre of music. Dark Tranquillity was formed in 1989 by vocalist and guitarist Mikael Stanne & guitarist Niklas Sundin, who looked at their influences and then decided to form their own band under the name Septic Broiler. Not long after, three additional members, Anders Fridén, Anders Jivarp and Martin Henriksson, joined the line-up. In 1990, the band recorded a demo cassette tape entitled Enfeebled Earth before they would change their name to Dark Tranquillity and change their musical style. Haven is the fifth full-length studio album released by Dark Tranquillity in 2000. It continued to advance the musical changes started on their previous album. A mix of melody, electronic pads, and heavy metal gave new fans to the band, but also became criticized by old melodic death fans that disliked the genre. Niklas Sundin has stated that this is his least favourite Dark Tranquillity album (this is also the only Dark Tranquillity album where he does not receive any songwriting credit), but has also mentioned that "Emptier Still" is his favourite song from the album. This is the first Dark Tranquillity release with Martin Henriksson becoming a full-time rhythm guitar player plus Michael Nicklasson & Martin Brändström recording with the band.

In 2006 "Teas N' Pleas N' " was covered by Shadows Fall (Atlantic Records) on their B-Sides LP Fallout From The War, featuring guest vocals from Toys' vocalist Jason McMaster. Dangerous Toys was formed in October 1987. Jason McMaster, singer for Watchtower, was invited by Tim Trembley to join his band, Onyxx, as singer. The group was first active from 1984 to 1993, and re-formed in 2001. Following Tom Gabriel Fischer's departure in 2008, Celtic Frost decided to break up again. The track "Rex Irae" is the opening part of Celtic Frost's requiem, the third, concluding part of which, "Winter (Requiem, Chapter Three: Finale)" can be heard on 2006's Monotheist. Dimmu Borgir is a Norwegian symphonic black metal band from Oslo, Norway, formed in 1993. Dimmu borgir means "dark cities" or "dark castles/fortresses" in Icelandic, Faroese and Old Norse. The name is derived from a volcanic formation in Iceland, Dimmuborgir. The band has been through numerous line-up changes over the years; guitarist Silenoz and vocalist Shagrath are the only founding members remaining. Dimmu Borgir started as a black metal band in 1993. Formed by Shagrath, Silenoz, and Tjodalv, the band released an EP in 1994 entitled Inn i evighetens mørke (Into the Darkness of Eternity). This short EP sold out within weeks, and the band followed up with the 1994 full length album For all tid (For all Time) This album featured vocal contributions by Vicotnik of Ved Buens Ende and Dødheimsgard and Aldrahn of Dødheimsgard and Zyklon-B. The initial lineup consisted of Shagrath playing drums with Tjodalv on guitar and Silenoz contributing lead vocals. Cradle Of Filth - 1996 - V Empire (or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein) EP
Cradle of Filth are an English extreme metal band, formed in Suffolk in 1991. The band's musical style evolved from black metal to a cleaner and more "produced" amalgam of gothic metal, symphonic black metal and other extreme metal styles, while their lyrical themes and imagery are heavily influenced by gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films. The band has successfully broken free from its original niche by courting mainstream publicity (often to the chagrin of its early fanbase), and this increased accessibility has brought coverage by the likes of Kerrang! and MTV, frequent main stage appearances at major festivals such as Ozzfest, Download and even the mainstream Sziget Festival, and in turn a more "commercial" image. They have sometimes been perceived as Satanic by casual observers, although their outright lyrical references to Satanism are few and far between, and use of Satanic imagery has arguably always had more to do with the shock value and mythological usage than any seriously-held beliefs. According to a 2006 issue of Metal Hammer magazine, they are the most successful British heavy metal band since Iron Maiden. V Empire or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein is Cradle of Filth's second official release, following The Principle of Evil Made Flesh. It was the band's final release for Cacophonous Records, and was hastily written and recorded for that label as a contractual obligation, before the band jumped ship to Music for Nations. As such, it is the first of two releases from 1996, the other being Dusk... and Her Embrace. Despite the circumstances in which it was written and recorded, it was well received by critics and a handful of its tracks are staples of the band's live sets to this day. 01 - Ebony Dressed For Sunset 02 - The Forest Whispers My Name 03 - Queen Of Winter, Throned 04 - Nocturnal Supremacy 05 - She Mourns In A Lengthening Shadow 06 - The Rape And Ruin Of Angels LINK Cradle Of Filth - 1998 - Cruelty And The Beast (Celtic Cross Version)
Cruelty and the Beast is the third studio album by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. It is a concept album based on the legend of the Hungarian "blood countess" Elizabeth Báthory. The album features guest narration on certain passages by Ingrid Pitt in character as Báthory; a role she first played in the Hammer film Countess Dracula in 1971. Orchestral and symphonic keyboard elements are given even more emphasis than previously, giving the music a darker and more dramatic feel. The album was well received on its release. The track "Cruelty Brought thee Orchids" has remained a staple of the band's live setlist since the album's release. Cinderella is an American heavy metal band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They emerged in the mid-1980s with a series of multi-platinum albums and hit singles whose music videos received heavy MTV rotation. They were famous for being a glam metal band, but then shifted over towards a more hard rock/blues-rock sound. By the mid-1990s, the band's popularity declined severely due to personal setbacks and public changes in musical tastes. Nonetheless, after a period of hiatus the band reunited and is still active at present. Cinderella was formed in Philadelphia in 1983 by singer-songwriter, keyboardist, and guitarist Tom Keifer and bassist Eric Brittingham. The initial lineup also included guitarist Michael Smerick and drummer Tony Destra. In 1985, Smerick and Destra left to form Britny Fox, another Philadelphia-based glam metal band that later relocated to Los Angeles. Cinderella got their big break when Jon Bon Jovi saw them perform at the Empire Rock Club in Philadelphia and recommended that his A&R rep Derek Shulman who knew of the band, to see them as well. In 1985, with a recording contract with Mercury/Polygram Records in the works, guitarist Jeff LaBar and drummer Jim Drnec joined the band. "Like a Texas twister chewing up a trailer park, Broken Teeth arose from the ashes of bands like, Dirty Looks, Pariah and of course Dangerous Toys. Dating back to around 1999, these hard knockers started kicking ass and taking names around the Austin, Texas area. A hotwired merger of AC/DC meets Danko Jones, Electric Crackles with all the Warhorse riffage of Motothead and Rose Tattoo fused to the Underground, lights-out sounds of such circuit-breaking head knockers as Rhino Bucket, Airbourne and Hellacopters."(from band's website). Jason McMaster - Vocals, Jared Tuten - Guitar, David Beeson - Guitar, Travis Weiss - Bass and Bruce Rivers - Drums. Broken Teeth, the debut album, was written & recorded in two weeks in May '99. 01 - She`s Gonna Blow 02 - Undertaker 03 - Two Time Lover 04 - Trippin`over A Bone 05 - Stick It In 06 - El Diablo 07 - Some Kinda Loser 08 - Hooray 09 - Pull The Plug 10 - Who Turned Out The Lights LINK
Dokken is an American heavy metal and hard rock band that was formed in 1978. The group accumulated numerous charting singles and has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. The band was a nominated for a Grammy. Dokken was composed of founder Don Dokken on vocals, George Lynch on lead guitars, Juan Croucier on bass, and "Wild" Mick Brown on drums. In 1983 Croucier left Dokken in order to join Ratt and was replaced by Jeff Pilson. Currently, Dokken and Brown remain from the original line-up. After several personnel changes on guitar, Dokken's attorney Jon Levin stepped in to fill the role in 2004. In 2001, Barry Sparks replaced Jeff Pilson on the bass guitar. In 2009, Sean McNabb replaced Barry Sparks on bass guitar. Dysfunctional is the fifth studio album by heavy metal band Dokken, released in 1995. It marks the band's first release after reuniting in 1993. Although the album charted respectably at #47 at a time when 1980s hard rock and heavy metal have largely declined, sales quickly dropped off and were not enough to reach gold RIAA certification. The song "Too High to Fly" was released as a single from the album and was a minor hit. As of 2009, it is the only song from the post-1980s portion of the bands' back catalogue that is still performed live, albeit only occasionally.
