Pacific Drift were Lawrence Arendes (drums), Graham Harrop (guitar and bass), Barry Reynolds (guitar and vocals), and Brian Shapman (keyboards and vocals). Arendes had been drummer with Manchester's freak-beat outfit Wimple Winch before joining Sponge, whose only recording was as singer Dave Berry's backing band on a 1969 single. When Jack Lancaster left Sponge to form Blodwyn Pig, the remaining members renamed themselves Pacific Drift, releasing an album on Deram Nova that contained a wide variety of musical styles, ranging from pop to blues to progressive rock. ‘Tomorrow Morning Brings' is perhaps the album’s outstanding track, featuring evocative harpsichord playing by Shapman. Pacific Drift disbanded in 1971.(OoD) 01 - Plaster Carter´s U.S.A. 02 - Tomorrow Morning Brings 03 - Feelin' Free 04 - Just Another Girl 05 - Garden Of Love 06 - Norman 07 - Grain Of Sand 08 - Greta The Legend 09 - Going Slow 10 - God Has Given Me 11 - Happy Days LINK
One of Chicago’s great underground bands. Mountain Bus were frequently cited as Chicago’s answer to the Grateful Dead, and indeed some of their songs on the above album sound like San Fransisco’s most cherished sons. The fiasco of the lawsuit against Mountain Bus and Good Records by the people who represented Mountain really obscures the fact that the band created some fabulous, atmospheric and ambient music that at times bears a striking resemblence to the music being created by the Grateful Dead during the same period. Nothing, however, can obscure excellent songs, and Sundance is full of them. (part - Stanton Swihart, All Music Guide)

Primevil was a short-lived hard rock combo from Indiana, comprised of vocalist Dave Campton, guitarists Larry Lucas and Jay Wilfong, bassist Mark Sipe, and drummer Mel Cupp (Moe Whittemore contributed synthesizers in the studio) -- most of whom were barely out of their teens when they recorded their sole long-player, Smokin' Bats at Campton's, in 1974.Produced at Moe Whittemore's 700 West studio, Primevil's Smokin' Bats at Comptons, is one of the heavy rock monsters of the Midwest. 01 - Leavin' 02 - Progress 03 - Fantasies 04 - Pretty Woman 05 - Tell Me If You Can 06 - Hey, Lover 07 - High Steppin' Stomper 08 - Your Blues LINK
Refugee was a progressive rock group formed by former The Nice members, bassist Lee Jackson and drummer Brian Davison, with keyboardist Patrick Moraz. After The Nice, Jackson had formed Jackson Heights, with Davison later becoming involved in the project too. Jackson then invited Moraz to form a new trio, Refugee, with him and Davison and following the same keys/bass/drums format as The Nice had. Refugee released one album on Charisma Records. The music was composed by Moraz with lyrics from Jackson. Without a deal for a second album and with tensions in the band, Moraz accepted an offer to join Yes in 1974 and, after a final few shows, Refugee split up. 01 - Papillon 02 - Someday 03 - Grand Canyon Suite 04 - Ritt Mickley 05 - Credo LINK
