Help Yourself - 1972 - Beware The Shadow
Help Yourself, known to their fans as "The Helps", were an English rock band of the early 1970s whose style developed from "American-flavoured country-rock… …to acid-drenched psych.”. Help Yourself formed in London in 1970, originally as a backing band for singer-songwriter Malcolm Morley, who had left Sam Apple Pie and been signed as a solo act by Famepushers. Malcolm Morley – keyboards, guitar, vocals, Richard Treece – guitar, bass, vocals, Dave Charles – drums, percussion, vocals, Ken Whaley – bass, Paul Burton – bass, guitar, vocals, Jonathan "Jojo" Glemser – guitar, Ernie Graham – guitar, vocals, Sean Tyla – guitar, vocals. Beware of the Shadow, the third album, was released in late 1972, but none of the first three albums sold well. The Helps appealed to a hippie audience such as fans of The Grateful Dead and Quicksilver Messenger Service so they were moderately successful in the U.S. but never toured there. 01 - Alabama Lady 02 - Re-Affirmation 03 - Calapso 04 - She's My Girl 05 - Molly Bake Bean 06 - American Mother 07 - Passing Through LINK
