The Beatles - 1967 - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by The Beatles, released in June 1967. Recorded over a 129-day period beginning in December 1966, Sgt. Pepper sees the band exploring further the experimentation of their previous album, Revolver (1966). Making use of orchestras, hired musicians and innovative production techniques, the album incorporates elements of genres such as music hall, jazz, rock and roll, western classical and traditional Indian music. Its lyrics deal with several themes including childhood, aging, everyday routine and life in postwar Britain, the tone ranging from cheerful and ironic to transcendent and surreal. Sgt. Pepper is a loose concept album that sees The Beatles performing as the fictitious band of the album's title. The Beatles - 1967 - Magical Mistery Tour Magical Mystery Tour is the title of two different 1967 record releases, an LP and a double EP, by The Beatles, both of which include the six-song soundtrack to the television movie of the same name. The version released in the United Kingdom (on 8 December 1967) was a six-track double EP, whilst in the United States, the record (released 11 days earlier on 27 November 1967) was an 11-track LP, created by adding songs from the band's 1967 singles. The 11-track LP was later adopted as the official version of the record when The Beatles' catalogue was updated for the CD format. The Beatles - 1966 - Revolver Revolver is the seventh album by The Beatles, released on 5 August 1966. Many of the tracks on Revolver are marked by an electric guitar-rock sound, in contrast with their previous, folk rock inspired Rubber Soul. It reached number one on both the UK chart and US chart and stayed at the top spot for seven weeks and six weeks, respectively. The album was released before their last tour in August 1966, but they did not perform songs from the album live. Their reasoning for this was that many of the tracks on the album, such as "Tomorrow Never Knows", were too complex to perform with live instruments. They toured with "Paperback Writer" as their only new song from 1966, which was not on the album. The Beatles - 1965 - Rubber SoulRubber Soul is the sixth UK studio album by the English rock band The Beatles, released in December 1965. Produced by George Martin, Rubber Soul had been recorded in just over four weeks to make the Christmas market. Unlike the five albums that preceded it, Rubber Soul was the first Beatle album recorded during a specific period without being interrupted by tour dates (though the group's debut album Please Please Me was technically recorded in a single day, four of the tracks were recorded several months before). All of the Beatle albums after Rubber Soul (except Magical Mystery Tour) followed this process.
