One of the pivotal '70s pop bands, Badfinger released a number of highly praised albums on the Apple and Warner Bros. labels. But the original band never released a live album during its time together, and Day After Day is a long-overdue document of the original Badfinger's in-concert power. Day After Day includes two of Badfinger's greatest hits, "Day After Day," and "Baby Blue," along with many highlights of the Apple albums. Recorded in 1974 at the Cleveland Agora, the album captures Badfinger's last tour featuring all four original members: guitarists Joey Molland and Pete Ham, bassist Mike Gibbins, and drummer Tom Evans. 01 - Sometimes02 - I Don't Mind03 - Blind Owl04 - Give It Up05 - Constitution06 - Baby Blue07 - Name Of The Game08 - Day After Day09 - Timeless10 - I Can't Take ItLINK

Five-piece from Galt, Ontario formed in 1970 from the remnants of the R & B cover band FJ And The Impressions which included bassist Mike Gingrich and organ player Ron Baumtrog. Amish started out playing cover versions of McKenna-Mendelson Mainline, The Modern Rock Quartet, The Doors and James Gang songs. The band's manager, Bill Gefross, brought them to the attention of US label Sussex Records where Motown producer Dennis Coffey and Mike Theodore, both staff producers for Sussex, took the band into GM Studios in East Detroit to record. Guitarist Botts was a draft dodger from the Viet Nam War and couldn't return to the United States to record so session guitarist Joe Gutz performed on the album instead. Their self-titled debut was distributed through Buddah Records in 1972. The album contains a remake of Traffic's "Dear Mr. Fantasy". The original song "Down The Road" was intended as a 7" release with the non-LP track "Upon My Leavin'", but the label never issued it. American Eagle were Greg Beck (guitar-vocals), Gene Hubbard (organ-piano-piano bass-vocals), Robert Lowery (vocals), and Fred Zuefeldt (drums-vocals). The group’s roots go back to the Seattle Washington area where Greg Beck and Fred Zuefeldt were members of the Viceroys, who also included future Raider Jim "Harpo” Valley, prior to this recording, the group recorded an album for Lee Hazlewood’s LHI label as Surprise Package releasing "Free Up” in 1968. They released this album about a year after the dissolution of the Package in the fall of 1969. Where the emphasis was on psychedelia on the previous album, here the band covers straightforward rock with a slight gospel rural feel to it. Highlights are "On The Rack” and a fine version of the Moody Blues’ "Nights In White Satin” that recalls the Vanilla Fudge. Alexis Korner was a pioneering blues musician and broadcaster who has sometimes been referred to as "the Founding Father of British Blues". A major influence on the sound of the British music scene in the 1960s, Korner was instrumental in bringing together various English blues musicians. Alexis Andrew Nicholas Koerner was born in Paris to an Austrian father and Greek mother, and spent his childhood in France, Switzerland, and North Africa. He arrived in London in 1940 at the start of the Second World War. One memory of his youth was listening to a record by black pianist Jimmy Yancey during a German air raid. He said, "From then on all I wanted to do was play the blues." Korner's Bootleg Him! compiles material from roughly the first decade of the artist's career, ranging from the early 1960s through the early 1970s.01 - She Fooled Me02 - I'm A Hoochie Coochie Man03 - Yellow Dog Blues04 - I Wonder Who05 - Dee06 - Oh Lord, Don' Let Them Drop That Atomic Bomb On Me07 - Rockin'08 - Honesty09 - I Got A Woman10 - Mighty-Mighty Spade & Whitey11 - Corinna Corinna12 - Operator (Feat. Long May You Run is an album released in September 1976 by The Stills-Young Band, a collaboration between Stephen Stills and Neil Young. The album peaked at #26 on the Billboard 200, was certified gold in the U.S. by the RIAA and remains the sole studio release by The Stills-Young Band. The Stills-Young Band recorded the album and began a tour in 1976 prior to the album's release but Young dropped out of the tour when he grew bored with the project, forcing Stills to complete the concert tour solo. The band was together from July through October 1976. Outside of Stills and Young, the other members of the group came from Stills' solo band. The album stemmed from a desire by both Young and Stills to pick up where they left off with their Buffalo Springfield-era guitar explorations. After a while, David Crosby and Graham Nash became involved with the project, and Long May You Run briefly became a CSNY album. However, Crosby and Nash eventually departed the project to focus on the material for what would become the duo's 1976 album, Whistling Down the Wire, and Young and Stills would remove Crosby and Nash's vocal harmonies and other contributions from the master tapes.01 - Long May You Run02 - Make Love To You03 - Midnight On The Bay04 - Black Coral05 - Ocean Girl06 - Let It Shine07 - 12-8 Blues (All The Same)08 - Fontainebleau09 - Guardian AngelLINK

These 25 tracks have been culled from a host of mid-'60s artists on the U.K.-based Decca Records label as part of their critically and enthusiastically lauded "Decca Originals" series. Each thematic entry gathers hard-to-locate tunes by a variety of lesser-known acts. The Beat Scene concentrates on groups stylistically akin to the early to mid '60s British Invasion beat bands. However, unlike the Beatles, the Dave Clark Five, or any of their other internationally renowned contemporaries, many of the acts featured here had comparatively nominal, if any, success outside of Europe.(AMG)01 - The Poets - I Love Her Still02 - The Game - Gonna Get Me Someone03 - Thee - Each & Every Day04 - The Mighty Avengers - (Walking Thru' The) Sleepy City05 - Shel Naylor - It's Gonna Happen Soon06 - Joe Cocker - I'll Cry Instead07 - Beat Boys - Third Time Lucky08 - The Mark Four - Hurt Me If You Will09 - Sandra Barry & The Boys - Really Gonna Shake10 - Lulu & The Luvvers - Surprise Surprise11 - The Mojos - Everything's Alright12 - The Beat Chics - Now I Know13 - Pete Best Four - I'm Gonna Knock On Your Door14 - The Warriors - Don't Make Me Blue15 - The Marauders - That's What I Want16 - The Brooks - Once In A While17 - Rick & Sandy - Lost My Girl18 - Unit 4+2 - I Was Only Playing Games19 - Tierneys Fugitives - Did You Want To Run Away20 - The Mockingbirds - One By One21 - The Rockin' Berries - Itty Bitty Pieces22 - The Knack - Who'll Be The Next In Line23 - Brian Poole & The Tremeloes - Keep On Dancing24 - The Hi Numbers - Heart Of Stone25 - The Andrew Oldham Orchestra - Da Doo Ron RonLINK

Keyboard player and vocalist John Morgan was a Graham Bond afficianado who turned toward psychedelia as the 1960's wore on. Billed originally as The Spirit of John Morgan, the band was successful enough to get booked into the Marquee and other top clubs, and cut three albums. Their self-titled debut into 1969 was followed by two more LPs in 1970 and 1972 (credited simply to John Morgan) for the Carnaby label. He also cut a single for British RCA in the early 1970's. The Royal Guardsmen are a rock band from Ocala, Florida, a sextet originally composed of Bill Balough (bass), John Burdett (drums), Chris Nunley (vocals), Tom Richards (guitar), Billy Taylor (organ), and Barry Winslow (vocals/guitar). Rick Cosner replaced John Burdett on drums in 2006. The current band performs regularly around the United States. Originally known as the Posmen, the band adopted their anglophile moniker during the British Invasion, led by The Beatles and other British artists. They achieved fame with their second (vinyl) single, "Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron" in 1966, which was also the title of their first album the same year. It soon reached #2 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, remaining in the bestsellers for 12 weeks, with an eventual one million sale in early 1967 and a gold record from the R.I.A.A. in February 1967. Snoopy, the Red Baron, and aircraft became a recurring theme in their songs, though they did have some chart singles without those themes, including "Any Wednesday", "I Say Love", and the Top 40 hit "Baby Let's Wait", a re-release of their first single. At Your Birthday Party is the third studio album by Steppenwolf, released in 1969 on the label ABC Dunhill Records. It was the first Steppenwolf album to feature bass player Nick St. Nicholas. Although it was less critically acclaimed than their successful first two albums, Steppenwolf and Steppenwolf the Second, it contained a few well-known hits, such as "It's Never Too Late" and "Jupiter's Child", as well as the colossal "Rock Me". Still it would be their last top ten album with their last top ten hit. Even then, though, the album showcases Steppenwolf at their peak, coming out of, but not yet completely abandoning, the psychedelia of Steppenwolf the Second and stepping into the distinctive hard rock of their later releases, but with less weight here than later, meaning it slides faster and more furiously.01 - Don't Cry02 - Chicken Wolf03 - Lovely Meter04 - Round And Down05 - It's Never Too Late06 - Sleeping Dreaming07 - Jupiter's Child08 - She'll Be Better09 - Cat Killer10 - Rock Me11 - God Fearing Man12 - Mango Juice13 - Happy BirthdayLINK

Faces (sometimes known as The Faces) are an English rock band formed in 1969 by members of the Small Faces after Steve Marriott left that group to form Humble Pie. The remaining Small Faces - Ronnie Lane (bass guitar), Ian McLagan (keyboards) and Kenney Jones (drums & percussion) - were joined by Ronnie Wood (guitar) and Rod Stewart (lead vocals), both from The Jeff Beck Group, and the new line-up was renamed Faces. Faces released four studio albums and toured regularly until the autumn of 1975, although Stewart simultaneously pursued a solo recording career, and during the band's final year Wood also toured with The Rolling Stones, whom he later joined. Long Player, from 1971, was the second album by Faces. Among the highlights are the live cover of Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed", the rave-up "Had Me a Real Good Time" and the opening "Bad 'n' Ruin". A single version of "Maybe I'm Amazed" appeared just ahead of the album, featuring a studio version of the song in lieu of the live version presented on the album proper.01 - Bad 'n' Ruin02 - Tell Everyone03 - Sweet Lady Mary04 - Richmond05 - Maybe I'm Amazed06 - Had Me A Real Good Time07 - On The Beach08 - I Feel So Good09 - JerusalemLINK

The origin of Affinity was, circa 1965 in the science department of the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. Three science students called Lynton Naiff (piano), Grant Serpell (drums), and Nick Nicholas (double bass) had formed the US Jazz Trio, they played at University events and local gigs. When Serpell graduated a year later he was replaced by Mo Foster who had earlier been playing bass guitar in his school band but had now adapted to playing drums. After university Naiff and Serpell, along with members of other bands gathered from other university bands, formed the pop group Ice. Although Ice was moderately successful commercially it only lasted for about a year before it disbanded. Although Ice had disbanded, Naiff and Serpell were keen to continue with a career in music. They decided to start a new jazz-influenced pop band. To this end they invited Foster to join them, only this time on bass guitar as Serpell would be carrying out the drummer's duties. After holding auditions they met ex-Tridents guitarist Mike Jopp. They liked his playing and his ability to play both jazz and pop, and perhaps more importantly he had his own amp and a car.The auditions continued for a singer. They unanimously decided on an English teacher they had met previously, Linda Hoyle. After obtaining a loan, which was guaranteed by Jopp's father, they bought the equipment needed to start the band. They bought Impact amplifiers, a Hammond M102 organ, a Gibson EBO bass guitar, some microphones and a grey Ford Transit van. They then spent the summer of 1968 rehearsing, writing, and generally chilling out at a rented bungalow on the edge of Brighton. The first thing they needed to do though was invent a name for themselves, eventually they settled on "Affinity" which came from the name of an Oscar Peterson LP.01 - I Am And So Are You02 - Night Flight03 - I Wonder If I Care As Much04 - Mr. Joy05 - Three Sisters06 - Cocoanut Grove07 - All Along The Watchtower08 - Eli's Coming09 - United States Of MindLINK

Bulldog were an obscure spinoff of the Rascals that formed in 1971. Gene Cornish and Dino Danelli, after leaving their successful act behind, enlisted Billy Hocher, John Turi and Eric Thorngren to round out the lineup. After a successful showcase performance, Decca Records came calling and soon Bulldog's self-titled debut was released. Though the album sported some uncharacteristic heaviness that surely surprised Rascals fans, the album was a bit too short on hooks to captivate the fickle record buying public. Perhaps the gruff Bob Seger/Joe Cocker vocals of Hocher seemed like a strange pairing with the material presented.01 - Flamingo02 - Are You Really Happy Together03 - Honeymoon Couple04 - Bad Bad Girl05 - Brown Eyed Handsome Man06 - We Had A Real Good Time07 - Ooh When You Smile08 - Rock & Roll Hootchie Coo09 - I Tip My Hat10 - I Tried To SleepLINK
