Donovan (Donovan Phillips Leitch, born 10 May 1946, in Maryhill, Glasgow), is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist. Emerging from the British folk scene, he developed an eclectic and distinctive style that blended folk, jazz, pop, psychedelia, and world music. "For Little Ones" is almost wholly an acoustic-guitar work, with only a few touches of brushing percussion, flute, and harmonica. Donovan frames his long-ago fairy tales with an appropriately faraway yen to his voice, and the songwriting is influenced more by Lewis Carroll and Childe ballads than Bob Dylan. There's a pronounced air of sadness to many of these songs, so small children may grow uneasy by "The Enchanted Gypsy" or "Widow With Shawl (A Portrait)." Donovan's childlike sense of humor also comes through, however, including the irresistible closer "Starfish-On-The-Toast."(John Bush, All Music Guide)

He is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, educator, philanthropist, and prominent convert to Islam. "Matthew and Son" is the first album of Cat Stevens. Stevens began writing songs during his early teenage years. His earliest influences included the sound of early British bands, like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, influenced by popular American Rhythm and Blues music. At the same time, folk influences from artists like Bob Dylan and Simon & Garfunkel left a strong mark on him, along with some of the musicals being performed so close to his childhood home in Soho, that often he could hear the songs drifting up through his room.

John Dawson "Johnny" Winter III (born 23 February 1944) is an American blues guitarist, singer and producer. A Lone Star Kind Of Day is primarily a revealing look back at the music Winter made in his native Texas before hitting the big time. The disc does, however, include two recent recordings. One is an interesting Cajun-influenced take on "Louie Louie," and the other is "We Go Back Quite Ways," written and recorded especially for this project. The latter finds Winter trading verses with former bandmate I.P. "Ike" Sweat, as they fondly recall their early '60s performances in Texas honky-tonks and roadhouses.
In 2003 Winter was ranked 74th in Rolling Stone magazine list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time"

A Detroit-area rock & roll band formed in 1969 by guitarist Cub Koda, Brownsville Station's original members also included Mike Lutz (guitar), T.J. Cronley (drums), and Tony Driggins (bass). Initially influenced by Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and other '50s rockers, their early albums included inspired covers and genre-faithful originals, all presented in Marshall stack, double bass drum bigness. Far more effective as a live act (with Koda's on-stage banter influencing everyone from J. Geils' Peter Wolf to Alice Cooper), the group finally hit paydirt in late 1973 with its number three hit, the Koda-penned "Smokin' in the Boys' Room." (AllMusic)
