Lynyrd Skynyrd is an American rock band, formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1964. The band became prominent in the Southern United States in 1973, and rose to worldwide recognition. Three members and one road crew member died in an airplane crash in 1977; the band reformed in 1987 for a reunion tour with lead singer Ronnie Van Zant's younger brother Johnny as the frontman. Lynyrd Skynyrd continues to tour and record. Of its original members, only Gary Rossington remains with the band as of 2010. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 13, 2006. To sample Lynyrd Skynyrd's true roots, the 1998 collection Skynyrd's First goes back even further than their official debut release, 1973's PRONOUNCED LEH-NERD SKIN-NERD. Comprised of 17 tracks, Skynyrd's First showcases early demos and outtakes that the band recorded prior to signing with MCA Records. Recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, Sheffield, Alabama. Fleetwood Mac are a British-American rock band formed in 1967 in London. The only original member present in the band is its namesake drummer, Mick Fleetwood. Despite band founder Peter Green naming the group by combining the surnames of two of his former bandmates (Fleetwood, McVie) from John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, bassist John McVie played neither on their first single nor at their first concerts. The keyboardist, Christine McVie, has, to date, appeared on all but two albums, either as a member or as a session musician. She also supplied the artwork for the album Kiln House. The Dream is a compilation of the early Fleetwood Mac's British blues.

Asia are an English rock supergroup formed in 1981. The band included former members of veteran progressive rock bands Yes, King Crimson, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Uriah Heep, U.K., Roxy Music, Wishbone Ash and The Buggles. Asia began with the apparent demise of Yes and Emerson, Lake & Palmer, two of the flagship bands of British progressive rock. After the break-up of King Crimson in 1974, various plans for a super group involving bassist John Wetton had been mooted, including the abortive British Bulldog project with Bill Bruford and Rick Wakeman in 1976. Wakeman walked out of this abortive project at the urging of management, according to Bill Bruford. In 1977, Bruford and Wetton were reunited in UK, augmented by guitarist Allan Holdsworth and keyboardist/violinist Eddie Jobson. The originam lineup was Geoff Downes - keyboards and backing vocals, (former member of Yes and The Buggles), John Wetton - lead vocals, bassist, and guitarist, (former member of King Crimson, UK, Uriah Heep , Roxy Music and Family), Steve Howe - guitar, mandolin, backing vocals (also a member of Yes and a former a member of GTR and Tomorrow) and Carl Palmer - drummer and percussionist (also a member of Emerson, Lake & Palmer and a former member of Atomic Rooster). Silent Nation is a 2004 album by Asia. Two tracks on the album were co-written by former Yes member Billy Sherwood. It is the last studio release with John Payne and Geoffrey Downes together. Former Phantom Blue bassist Kim Nielsen-Parsons appears as a guest musician on "I Will Be There for You." The name of the album neither begins nor ends with the letter 'A'. This breaks the tradition followed by most Asia studio albums up to this point, which do both. Exceptions are Then & Now, which is part compilation and part new album; and Rare, a collection of instrumentals. It is also the first studio album sleeve featuring a photograph, not an illustration, as was Asia's trademark. The album was recorded at Clear Lake Audio, North Hollywood, CA, and was produced and engineered by Payne.

Albert King was an American blues guitarist and singer. One of the "Three Kings of the Blues Guitar" (along with B. B. King and Freddie King), Albert King stood 6' 4" (192 cm) (some reports say 6' 7") and weighed 250 lbs (118 kg) and was known as "The Velvet Bulldozer". He was born Albert Nelson on a cotton plantation in Indianola, Mississippi. During his childhood he would sing at a family gospel group at a church. One of 13 children, King grew up picking cotton on plantations near Forrest City, Arkansas where the family moved when he was eight. He began his professional work as a musician with a group called In The Groove Boys in Osceola, Arkansas. He also briefly played drums for Jimmy Reed's band and on several early Reed recordings. Influenced by blues musicians Blind Lemon Jefferson and Lonnie Johnson, but also interestingly Hawaiian music, the electric guitar became his signature instrument, his preference being the Gibson Flying V, which he named "Lucy".

Alabama was a Grammy Award-winning country music and southern rock band from Fort Payne, Alabama, United States. The band was founded in 1969 by Randy Owen (lead vocals) and his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass guitar, background vocals), soon joined by Jeff Cook (guitar, fiddle, keyboards). In 1973, after Owen's graduation from Jacksonville State University, they gave up their day jobs and weekend gigs. The group, formerly known as "Wildcountry", left Fort Payne and Lookout Mountain to explore the possibilities of the club scene in surrounding coastal South Carolina. They were the most commercially successful country act in the 1980s.[citation needed] The band is often credited with bringing country music groups (as opposed to solo vocalists) into the mainstream, paving the way for the success of today's top country groups. Since its founding in 1972, Alabama has included Owen, Cook and Gentry. Herndon was hired in 1979, and the band has had the same four members ever since.
