In 1962 Tim Rose met singer Cass Elliot, at a party in Georgetown, D.C., and formed a folk trio with her and singer John Brown called The Triumvirate. Later, after John was replaced by James (Jim) Hendricks they changed the name to The Big 3. They soon landed a job at The Bitter End, a well-known folk club in New York's Greenwich Village, along with Cafe Wha?, The Night Owl, and The Gaslight Cafe, along with many musicians who lived at the nearby Albert Hotel. Rose described Cass Elliot as the funniest and most talented person he ever met. They had appeared on 26 national television shows, including Hootenanny  (1963), The Danny Kaye Show (1963), and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962).

Longbranch Pennywhistle was a country rock/folk music group consisting of Glenn Frey and John David Souther. They released this self-titled album in 1969 under the Amos Records label. However, the label dissolved a couple years later in 1971, and the group split up. Shortly thereafter, Frey formed The Eagles. Souther and Frey would continue to collaborate, also with fellow Eagle Don Henley, occasionally on such Eagles classics as "The Best of My Love", "New Kid in Town", "Victim of Love", "The Sad Café", and "Heartache Tonight". They also recorded the song "I Can't Believe It" used in the 1971 film Vanishing Point. This song does not appear on Longbranch Pennywhistle's only album.

ZZ Top is an American  blues rock trio, formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas. Comprising of Billy Gibbons (vocals and guitar), Dusty Hill (vocals, bass, and keyboards), and Frank Beard (drums and percussion), ZZ Top was ranked number 44 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.". The trio's original lineup has been intact for over 40 years; their longevity together of 41 years has placed them second only to the Four Tops, whose original band members remained intact from 1953 until the death of Lawrence Payton in 1997. ZZ Top retained the services of the same manager, Bill Ham, until September, 2006. First Album is the debut album, released in 1971.

Byrds is the twelfth album by the American rock band The Byrds and was released in March 1973 on Asylum Records. It was recorded as the centerpiece of a reunion between the five original members of The Byrds: Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, and Michael Clarke. The last time that all five members had worked together as The Byrds was in 1966, prior to Gene Clark's departure from the band. During the reunion, the current, latter-day line-up of the band continued to make live appearances, with McGuinn being the only member common to both versions of the group.

This is a very rare Acetate once owned by WNEW Radio in New York. They took two concerts by CCR and had them pressed onto an Acetate disc to be played during the summer of 1970. The concerts are 5-2-1970 in Seattle, and 5-13-1970 in New York. The 5-2-1970 concert in Seattle is an Audience Recording from very near the stage and is complete! Both concerts were played during two seperate radio broadcasts only a few days apart.

There was British rock before the Beatles, but it wasn't particularly great, it was often stiff and stilted, sounding tentative. Still, there were some gems amidst the mediocrity, songs by Billy Fury, Cliff Richard, or Johnny Kidd & the Pirates, and the best thing about this seven-disc series is that it captures both the good and the bad, providing a thorough retrospective of this little-acknowledged (especially to American collectors) period of rock & roll (All Music Guide).

The Beatles - 1966 - Revolver

Revolver is the seventh album by The Beatles, released on 5 August 1966. Many of the tracks on Revolver are marked by an electric guitar-rock sound, in contrast with their previous, folk rock inspired Rubber Soul. It reached number one on both the UK chart and US chart and stayed at the top spot for seven weeks and six weeks, respectively. The album was released before their last tour in August 1966, but they did not perform songs from the album live. Their reasoning for this was that many of the tracks on the album, such as "Tomorrow Never Knows", were too complex to perform with live instruments. They toured with "Paperback Writer" as their only new song from 1966, which was not on the album. Placed at number 3 in the Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, the album is often regarded as one of the greatest achievements in rock music history, and one of the Beatles' greatest studio achievements.
